Brcko Supervisor Susan Johnson today appointed Ms. Renata Lučić and Mr. Ešef Pamukčić to serve as lay members of the Brcko District Judicial Commission for a period of four years, to fill the two positions vacant after the expiration of the mandate of the previous lay members in June 2005.

Under the Law on the Brcko District Judicial Commission, two members of the Judicial Commission should be selected by the Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina from a list of candidates proposed by the Mayor and the Assembly of the Brcko District. The responsible institutions proved unable to produce timely results, over a period of some nine months. This failure has been holding up important duties of the Brcko District Judicial Commission.

The Supervisor has also amended the Law on the Brcko District Judicial Commission transferring the responsibility of lay member selection to the Assembly, on the basis of public invitation of interest and clear criteria.
