VL says elections show magnitude of ethnic cleansing in BiH

Vecernji List, pg 5 ‘Ethnic cleansing in Dayton BiH confirmed’, by Dejan Jazvic – The author claims that beside providing results that show the political mood of the citizenry in BiH, the local elections foremost hint what kind of results one should be expecting when a census is organized in BiH. The author believes it is also important that SBiH abandons the coalition authority at all levels and this will probably happen at proper moment.

Nacional, pg 34 ‘Prce’s admission passes verdict to Ante Jelavic’, by Berislav Jelinic – commenting on recent deal between one of defendants in the Hercegovacka bank case, Miroslav Prce, and BiH Prosecution, Nacional argues that the deal will make position of other defendants much more difficult. Nacional reckons that by doing so, Prce indirectly admits that the Hercegovacka bank case was not a political project of the IC in BiH, and that in fact it was a politically conditioned criminal of incredible proportions.

Globus, pgs 36-39 ‘First repentant from Herzegovina’, by Gordan Malic – The author claims that Prce decided to cut a deal with the Prosecution after he realized that Ante Jelavic has been, in his depositions, blaming him for illegalities that occurred in the Hercegovacka bank case. Apparently, Jelavic has been claiming that he, as a member of BiH Presidency, had ‘other priorities’ and ‘superficial insight’ into the bank and FBiH MoD’s operations, pointing the finger of blame on Prce and Miroslav Rupcic. Globus also claims to be in possession of a 170-page document prepared by AID (former Bosniak intelligence agency), which apart from Jelavic, Prce and Rupcic, blames general Ante Gotovina, Ivica Pasalic, general Stanko Sopta Baja and several other military and political officials for giving political support to the Croat self-rule project. AID’s report claims that Pasalic organized a meeting Grude in early April 2001, which gathered Jelavic, Ljubo Cesic Rojs, Sopta Baja, and Tomo and Predrag Naletilic. During the meeting, Pasalic called on ‘all patriots from Herceg Bosna’ to unite in fight for separation of Herzegovina (from BiH). Allegedly, prior to the Grude meeting, Pasalic talked to senior officials of the Catholic Church in Sarajevo and RS officials at Pale about the same issue. Globus also notes that although the BiH Court is not trying Pasalic, he is frequently mentioned as the next person on the EU’s ‘black list’ and list of the High Representative for BiH, Paddy Ashdown. Finally, Globus’ sources say that Rupcic and Ivica Karlovic, who are being mentioned as possible future repentant witnesses, had been threatened with death in case they were to decide to cooperate with the Prosecution.

DL: Constitutional Court to discuss issue of politicians’ immunity by end October

Dnevni List, front ‘Covic and Bicakcic to have immunity until end of month’ and pg 2 ‘Final decision on Covic and Bicakcic’s appeal to revoked immunity’, by Dario Pusic – The daily announces that the Constitutional Court of BiH will during its next session scheduled for end of month discuss appeals submitted by some 15 politicians, including the Croat member of BiH Presidency, Dragan Covic, and former FBiH Prime Minister, Edhem Bicakcic, who are invoking the immunity because they find themselves in situations in which courts are initiating criminal proceedings against them. The President of BiH Constitutional Court, Mato Tadic, notes that the Constitutional Court will only deal with legality of challenged provisions of the Law on immunity, underlining it is the Parliamentary Assembly which can revoke the immunity.

NN update to documents seized from USK Govt

Nezavisne Novine pg 2 ‘Prosecutor’s Office looking for link between Veladzic and TWRA’ by A. Sisic – NN collocutor close to BiH State Prosecutor’s Office confirms that the TWRA documents [Third World Relief Agency] seized by the members of FBiH MoI from the Archive of the Una Sana Cantonal Government concern business dealings between former Governor of this Canton, Mirsad Veladzic, and his link with this organisation. TWRA is brought into connection with the terrorist networks throughout the world. NN collocutor confirms that: “The law enforcement bodies have found documents they were looking for at the Archive of Una Sana Canton Government. A large part of this documentation refers to dealings between Veladzic and TWRA in the period from 1995 to 1998.” The source further stresses that Veladzic is not the only person under investigation, without revealing name of any other person involved in this. Law enforcement agencies link TWRA with the late Alija Izetbegovic, as well as with his son Bakic, Senad Sahinpasic and Hasan Cengic.
