Principal Deputy High Representative, Ambassador Donald Hays, and Deputy High Representative for Economic Issues Patrice Dreiski today visited Brcko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina for a series of meetings on agricultural, manufacturing, and regional economic issues. They visited Mlin-Psenica FlourMill, Brcko District Regional Development Agency, Italproject, IBD building block manufacturing company, and the Brcko Port.
After his Port tour, Ambassador Hays said: “I come to Brcko to get new ideas on economic development. Brcko has the right idea: ‘Don’t wait for other people – Go ahead and make change now.’ What this country needs is an economic framework of European standards; a legal system that provides a level playing field for all entrepreneurs and businessmen, and an educational system that will feed the business community with young people who are prepared for the market place immediately, and Brcko is taking the right steps in that direction. “
“Since my visit with Minister Mikerevic in July, there is a genuine recognition of new partnership between the State Government and Brcko District, and I see that this partnership will benefit both sides, in the very near future. “
