Brcko Supervisor bewildered by the disappearance of the Jewish Memorial Plate in Brcko District

Acting High Representative and Brcko Supervisor Dr Raffi Gregorian called “deplorable” the recent theft of the memorial plate for Jewish people killed in Brcko during the World War II. The memorial plate was placed in Brcko local community Grcica in remembrance of the massacre of a group of Jewish refugees who had escaped from the Nazis, and sought asylum in Brcko, where a Jewish community had existed for many centuries. .
Supervisor Gregorian calls upon District Police and leaders to identify and punish the perpetrators and to restore the memorial plate. “It is a solemn duty to remember the horrors of man’s past inhumanity towards their fellow man–of which Brcko had more than its fair share–as a way of protecting against such outrages in the future,” said Gregorian. In this regard there is a particular duty towards remembering the fate of the Jewish community which perished in the World War II.
