Brcko Supervisor, Dr Raffi Gregorian, welcomes today’s formation of authority in Brcko District. He congratulates the newly appointed officials, Mayor of Brcko District Dragan Pajic, Speaker of Brcko District Assembly Mirsad Djapo and Deputy Speaker Ivan Krndelj and stated his expectation that they will perform their duties in accordance with the oaths they swore to uphold the Statute and laws of the District, the awards of the Arbitral Tribunal, and the Constitution of BiH.
Supervisor Gregorian hopes that competent new heads of departments, who have not served in the previous executive authority, will be soon appointed to enable a fully functioning of the District Government to tackle the problems that have accumulated over the last four months.
There is no time to waste – after more than four months since the elections, councilors have managed only to appoint the Mayor, Speaker and Deputy Speaker. The new Speaker must strive to overcome the many concerns that have been voiced about his actions in the previous government, while the new Mayor must demonstrate that he will administer the executive branch on behalf of all Brcko residents. Supervisor Gregorian expects the Brcko District Assembly to immediately adopt the resolution on the Brcko constitutional amendment they unanimously agreed to last month, take up the issue of the 2009 budget, and forge ahead with all possible speed in implementing its new platform.
