Kao što mnogi od vas znaju, prošle godine, tijekom posjeta ministra vanjskih poslova Ahmeta Davutoglua u Sarajevu je otvoren Kulturni centar „Yunus Emre“. To je prvi od niza centara koje Fondacija „Yunus Emre“ planira voditi izvan Turske.

Bosna i Hercegovina trenutačno uživa prednosti najotvorenijih, najprijateljskijih i najpozitivnijih odnosa sa svojim susjedima od potpisivanja Daytonskog mirovnog sporazuma prije gotovo petnaest godina.

Zahvaljujem se što ste mi danas pružili priliku da prezentiram svoje četvrto izvješće kao visoki predstavnik, i 38. izvješće po redu. Nadam se da će vam moje izvješće pomoći da bolje shvatite sveukupnu situaciju u Bosni i Hercegovini, kako stoje stvari sada i koji su to izazovi sa kojima se suočavamo u periodu koji je pred nama.

Let me begin by saying what a pleasure it is to be back at the Japan Institute of International Affairs. I had an opportunity to take part in a meeting here in August last year and I look forward this afternoon to continuing the discussion that we began then.

There is a universe of loss in a single death. By identifying victims and documenting the circumstances in which they died, we can begin to make that universe less bleak, through respect and compassion.

It is customary at events like this – in an academic milieu and with a high degree of common purpose– for speakers to address issues with a broad brush, perhaps dealing with points of intellectual or philosophical interest.

On this day and in this place we remember twelve colleagues, men and women who came to Bosnia and Herzegovina to help this country and who died here as they carried out their work.
