Peace Implementation Council

The Political Directors of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council decided at their meeting in Brussels that the final cut-off date for the recognition of ordinary passports of the former Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be 30 September 1999.

The Steering Board members unanimously deplore the car bombing in Sarajevo which resulted in serious injuries to the Federation Deputy Minister of Interior, Jozo Leutar, and two of his colleagues. Members extend their sympathies to the families of the victims and offer their best wishes for the full recovery of the injured.

Declaration of the Peace Implementation Council Madrid, 16 December 1998 1. We, the members of the Peace Implementation Council met in Madrid on 15/16 December, where we reviewed progress in implementing the Peace Agreement in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Steering Board met in Sarajevo on 6 October, to review developments since the last meeting on 8 September. In particular the meeting focused on the General Elections held on September 11 and 12, and their outcome.

Today, the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council met in Sarajevo at the level of political directors to review the latest developments in the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

A very productive session of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council was held in Sarajevo today, with renewed commitments made to the refugee return process, financial aid to the Republika Srpska, and preparations for the September elections.
