“The Council of Ministers has taken an important step towards fulfilling the awards of the Arbitral Tribunal for Brčko which was set up under Annex 2 of Dayton”, Acting High Representative and Brčko Supervisor Raffi Gregorian said welcoming the decision that the BiH Council of Ministers has adopted the proposal for including Brčko in the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Gregorian called on the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina to follow the example of the Council of Ministers, and adopt the proposed amendment as a matter of urgency. He noted that the Brčko District Assembly also today unanimously adopted a resolution calling upon the BiH Parliamentary Assembly to adopt the amendment as soon as possible.
The acting High Representative and Brčko Supervisor expressed his satisfaction that the text proposed by the Council of Ministers is in conformity with awards of the Arbitral Tribunal and provides the District with effective access to the Constitutional Court.
