The Acting High Representative and Brcko District Supervisor, Raffi Gregorian, welcomes the adoption of Brcko District Constitutional Amendment in both houses of BiH Parliamentary Assembly in the first reading. The amendment defines the District in accordance with the Awards of the Arbitral Tribunal and gives the District effective access to the BiH Constitutional Court in disputes it may have with the entities or the state.

Welcoming the adoption, Gregorian said: “The adopted Constitutional Amendment fulfills important requirements for completing the Brcko Arbitral Tribunal’s Final Award, and does not in any way prejudice any future constitutional reforms. The amendment enjoys the support of the PIC Steering Board member countries and members of almost every political option in BiH, as demonstrated by the overwhelming affirmative votes in both houses of Parliament.”

The Acting High Representative and Brcko District Supervisor, Raffi Gregorian, hopes that after the public debates on the amendment that the Parliament will adopt it as soon as possible, thus paving the way for completion of one of the remaining objectives identified necessary for OHR closure and transformation to the EUSR.
