HJPC: BiH judiciary is politically independent, but inefficient due to world load
| PINK – BiH High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) claims that BIH judiciary is independent from the political influence. On Monday, HJPC launched the three-months public information campaign ‘Independent and effective judiciary for BiH’ with an aim to make public aware of all aspects of judicial reform, and to open dialogue with the participants in this reform process. During the campaign, HJPC wants to point out the fact that the successful judicial reform is one of the prerequisites for BiH’s admission into EU. BHT 1 – Reporter comments that a problem for BIH judicial system is inefficiency caused by approximately million uncompleted cases. Chairman of HJCP Branko Peric stated that the system suffers enormous pressure to solve all the cases, which is impossible. BiH Foreign Affair Minister Ivanic: EU sent a clear message by proposing the establishment of free trade zone
| PINK– During the meeting with Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Saturday evening in Mostar, High Representative in BiH Christian Schwarz-Schillingsupported Sanader’s proposal that all five South-eastern European countries should be included in the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA). The official stance of BiH authorities, according to PINK reporter, is that such initiative would improve the economic relations in region, and represent a good preparation for the admission to European Union. According to BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Mladen Ivanic, by suggesting that the Balkan free trade zone should be established, European Union has sent a clear message to the region: ‘If you are not able to cooperate mutually, how you would cooperate with us?’ Therefore, BiH fully supports this initiative: “Since we all have mutual bilateral agreements, the free trade zone is practically already established; it only needs to be formalized”, explained Ivanic. He added that the subsidies to agricultural workers would have to be increased in case free trade zone is officially established. “If we remove (import) duties without subsidies to our farmers, the agriculture in BiH and RS would be practically completely destroyed”, concluded Ivanic. |

FTV says Bosniak and Serb workers were all “illegally” dismissed and claims they have not yet been allowed to return to work. Speaking for magazine, ‘Aluminij’ Director Mijo Brajkovic stated that this is the political issue, stressing that all employees would be compensated after the privatization process is ended. Brajkovic also added that they, as a company, are willing to employ non-Croats, but that only Croat are applying to vacancies in this company.
