PIC Political Directors Meeting
The Political Directors of the Peace Implementation Council will meet in Sarajevo this evening and tomorrow morning. At this evening’s session, which starts at 5.30, the PIC will review developments right across the BiH political landscape, including the unification of Mostar’s city administration, progress in education reform, the status of BiH’s efforts to fulfill the European Commission’s Feasibility Study requirements and the steps that must now be taken, and the status of BiH’s efforts to fulfill the conditions for participation in NATO’s Partnership for Peace.
Tomorrow morning, BiH Prime Minister Adnan Terzic, Foreign Minister Mladen Ivanic, Minister for Security Barisa Colak, European Integration Director Osman Topcagic and Director of the BiH Intelligence and Security Agency Almir Djuvo will take part in the morning meeting.
Prime Minister Terzic will brief the PIC Political Directors on the steps that the authorities have taken and intend to take with regard to implementing the Feasibility Study and PfP requirements, and also on the progress that has been made in making the Indirect Taxation Agency operational, which is a major concern of the PIC since it represents the most important economic reform underway in BiH. Mr Terzic and Mr Djuvo will brief the meeting on the latest steps in Intelligence reform.
The PIC Political Directors will also discuss Defence and Police Reform, new measures to combat organised crime, and the work of the Srebrenica Commission. In the economic field, the introduction of VAT, draft legislation on restitution, and the recently agreed plan to resolve BiH’s internal debt will all be discussed.

In addition, the High Representative will hold a Press Conference at the conclusion of the PIC, during which he will discuss the way forward on several of the principal issues that have been discussed by the Political Directors
