PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION
Within the framework of the case-based track of the Anti-Crime and Corruption Unit (ACCU) strategy, the incumbent will co-ordinate and guide investigations undertaken in the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) by the appropriate local investigation agencies with a view towards developing corruption and fraud cases for prosecution.
He/She will develop and prepare strategies including legislative proposals to improve the capacity and ability of the BiH authorities to fight against corruption, fraud and economic crime; and support the general decision-making process of the High Representative with regards to these fields.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Identify and support systemic reform by recommending and developing anti-corruption strategies and legislation in conjunction with the Head of ACCU and the Head of the ACCU Prosecution Unit in Sarajevo;
· Assist and support as required the BiH prosecutorial and judicial system in the process of prosecuting corruption and economic crime cases;
· Co-ordinate with international and national agencies strategies to combat and prevent corruption, fraud and economic crime in the BiH;
· Co-operate with local and international Investigators to support the prosecution and investigation elements.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
· Masters degree in Law;
· At least 5 years experience as a prosecutor or judge dealing with corruption and/or economic crime;
· Very good interpersonal skills to interact with both international and local experts;
· Strong personal commitment to peace implementation and anti-corruption in BiH;
· Knowledge of BiH political situation/ environment is highly recommended;
· Knowledge of written and spoken English language.
