Today, Brcko Supervisor Dr. Raffi Gregorian issued a Supervisory Order Providing for Emergency Funding For Social Benefits and Court Decisions.
The Supervisor was compelled to act because the previous Brcko District Government failed to resolve this matter before the end of its mandate in 2008. The Government’s failure made it impossible to fulfill legal obligations deriving from Brcko District legislation, which must be paid from 2008 budget sources.
The problem was brought to the Supervisor’s attention only two days ago. After consulting with the Brcko District Finance Directorate and receiving Director Lucic’s explicit request and assurances on the absolute need to amend the 2008 budget before the end of the fiscal year, the Supervisor decided to act by way of Supervisory Order.
“I am determined not to let the residents of Brcko District bear the consequences of the previous Government’s negligence by which they would have been deprived of social benefits, or that Court-ordered decisions for financial payments would have gone unpaid,” the Supervisor said.
