The Steering Board Ambassadors join the High Representative in condemning the attack on the grave of Alija Izetbegovic. We expect the Bosnian police authorities to investigate this act of violence and to establish who was responsible so that they will be judged for their crimes.

Steering Board Ambassadors stressed the importance of police reform. It is a key requirement for EU integration. The citizens of this country deserve a fully functional and effective police force.

Steering Board Ambassadors and the High Representative met today and expressed their deep regret that the BiH House of Representatives did not pass the proposed constitutional reform package on Wednesday evening.

The Political Directors of the Peace Implementation Council Steering Board met in Vienna on 15 March, the first such meeting under the chairmanship of the High Representative Dr Christian Schwarz-Schilling since taking office on 31 January 2006.

The PIC Steering Board Ambassadors welcome the progress made by Bosnia and Herzegovina's political leaders towards a package of constitutional amendments that would significantly improve governance. The Ambassadors also welcomed the valuable facilitation role played by the United States to assist the talks.

The Ambassadors of the PIC Steering Board, meeting in Sarajevo today, issued a statement emphasizing the central importance of upholding democratic principles in the political oversight and command of the BiH armed forces.
